When the natives of the North Country call Wolf, "sister" and "brother", they mean it literally. One of their ancient legends states, As goes the fate and fortune of one of you, so goes the fate and fortune of the other (click to read legend). To learn the ways of the hunt, a boy will look not to a skilled hunter of his clan, but to Wolf - the first hunter. This special relationship is a metaphor for the web of kinship of all who fly, swim walk, crawl, and root. Snow is the gifting blanket over the Mother Bosom that brings warmth and quiet - a time for introspection, listening and renewal. In this time the old teaching stories can best be heard, and dreams are vivid and rich with guidance. With the melting of the Snows comes a time of new beginnings. The relationship of Wolf and Human is the spirit of Snow Wolf Publications; its purpose is to bring Snow's gift to those who are returning to the Beauty Way. Through self- publishing, and in cooperation with other publishers, Snow Wolf is helping to bring back the timeless wisdom of our ancestors, as recounted by Tamarack Song and other writers and artists. By honoring the Ancestral Way, we will once again hunt with Wolf and gather in clans around the sacred fire to feast and revel in the stories of our people. The Snow Wolf Collective We are a circle of people who have come together for common purpose: to renew the wisdoms of the Old Way and to help with the healing of Earth Mother and all the plant, animal, mineral, and human relations. All of us feel privileged for this opportunity to serve together, and most of us have stories about how we have been guided here. At present we are two artists, a consultant, a book designer, four editors, and a writer, along with several others who play vital roles. Two of us are full-time, and the rest of us have other pursuits as well. Several of us receive a percentage of royalties, two are provided room and board and a small stipend, and two serve gratis. Among us we have much talent - a multiple award-winning book designer, a renowned artist, an editor and consultant of a # 1 bestseller, and so on. So watch for profound as well as beautiful things coming from Snow Wolf Publishing. |
