Outdoor Classroom

Imagine your child having the opportunity to go out on a journey and learn to see the world through different eyes. Envision them invited to be a guest at a traditional native camp in the Northern Wilderness. Picture them walking proudly into the woods, leaving the modern world with video games, TV, iPods’ and computers behind.

In our Outdoor Classroom children get to know the concept of learning as a way of life. By being immersed in nature, everything becomes a hands-on learning experience, stimulating both the body and the mind.

By being part of our Outdoor Classroom, many children are challenged to operate in an environment that’s outside their comfort zone. Learning new ways of doing things helps children to react more flexibly when being confronted with situations that require problem solving skills and helps them become more empathetic with each other as they get to experience the unique skills of each of the group members.

Children will get to live life to its fullest in a world where they hear the howl of coyote, the hoot of an owl and the rustling of leaves while they witness the circle of life that we are all a part of. Rather than reading about it or looking at a display, they’ll get to discover how humans used to live without modern technology by experiencing it in real life.

We would like to invite children ages 5 and up to join us around our hearth for a day long immersion.
