Tomahawks

The Colonial Tomahawk - this style has been around for 200 years or so and we feel it is still the best available. Handforged by blacksmith Keith Johnson of Minnesota, they carry his lifetime guarantee. Made of soft steel ideal for the cold winters in the North Woods, where a harder steel can shatter with the force of a blow, these hawks can easily be sharpened with any suitable rock. The large head is good for all-around work; the small head is best for finer work and for smaller individuals. Unlike contemporary tools, the handle is wider at the blade end, which means the head tightens rather than loosens on the handle as the tool is being used. This allows the head to slide off of the handle for ease of transport in a pack, and for use as a hand-chopper, scrapper, slicer. Also in the case of a broken handle it allows a replacement to be quickly fabricated from an available branch and installed without the use of wedges. Carve your own handle or purchase one ready-made.

Large Tomahawk Head (5 1/2" by 4 1/4") $30

Medium Tomahawk Head (5 1/4" by 3 3/4") $25

Small Tomahawk Head (4 3/4" by 3") $20

Large Tomahawk Handle (18") $7
