| An easy new way to raise money for Teaching Drum,
online!
We
now have a new way to raise money for Teaching
Drum while using the internet. With Goodsearch.com, a websearch engine
powered by Yahoo, we earn about 1 penny per internet search. The
searches are reliable (from Yahoo) and you can check anytime to see how
much Teaching Drum has raised. If we all use Goodsearch for
our primary internet search engine, and encourage family and friends to
do the same, we will be able to raise a significant amount for the
school. Click the button above to get started, or go
to Goodsearch.com and enter 'Teaching Drum'" under 'Who do you
Goodsearch for?' and click Verify. After the first time you do this
Teaching Drum will automatically come up as the charity you search for
as long as you have not deleted the Goodsearch cookie. You
can also download the Goodsearch
toolbar so that you can use Goodsearch from the toolbar in
the upper righthand corner of your browser.
Additionally, by going to Goodshop.com
and clicking through before purchasing from major online retailers
(like Amazon, Ebay, and many more) Teaching Drum will get a donation
from the sale ranging from 1.5 - 37%. Thanks to all
of you who choose to Goodsearch and Goodshop with us! |

Drum's Online Library Catalog
The
Teaching Drum Library Catalog is now available online! Our library includes
books, serials, videos and other materials that
are guides in reconnecting us to the Old Way. Our collection includes
many items about indigenous people, the natural world, natural health,
native foods, mythology, (un)parenting, cultural criticism, personal
discovery, spirituality, and native crafts and
skills. Although we are
not a lending library, we encourage folks to come by and visit us to
take advantage of the wonderful resources we offer.
Please note that our catalog
is still in process and is growing
daily. To effectively search the catalog, or if you are
interested in
visiting our library, we recommend reading our library guide. |
| Wild Moon Immersions at
Mashkodens primitive camp Do
you ever feel the urge to just break away from the daily motions that
our civilized routines lay in front of us? Perhaps that walk
in the
woods just doesn’t cut it; the weekend camping trip ends so quickly;
the wilderness workshop is fun but the knowledge fades because you are
not living it. You crave more -- how about a whole moon of immersion? Or
even three moons? | Older News |
| Lawn
Liberation!
The
lawn around the Teaching Drum center has been rewilded - a rich mix of
prairie and woodland grasses, wildflowers, and a pond, replace the
sterile and boring buzz- cut Kentucky bluegrass. Where once only the
occasional Robin ventured, there are now Rabbits, Chipmunks,
Butterflies, and dozens of
new bird species.
Even the occasional Fox, Deer, and Bear wander through. A
night chorus
of Frogs and Toads rings from the pond by night, and by day Dragonflies
skim over the surface. (pond

is
now actually certified wildlife habitat, thanks to programs by the
National Wildlife Federation and Windstar Wildlife Institute. (lawn pictures)
These programs make it possible for urban and suburban people to
naturalize part or all of their lawns and have it be acceptable to
neighbors and local authorities.
